Yvonne Leach Private tour guide in Dover, Canterbury - United Kingdom

Yvonne Leach

Guide profile:

Based just about 20 minutes from the Port of Dover's Cruise Terminal and the historic White Cliffs of Dover, and yet just 15 minutes from the cathedral city of Canterbury, I have worked in the travel industry in this area for (ouch)! 40 years and have a passion for the county of Kent.. They say it is where England begins and began and with over 3,200 years of history to be seen, stunning views, city, coast and countryside, it is no wonder that I can't wait to share it with our visitors ! My interests are in people (past and present) in folklore, myth and legend, in 'off the beaten track' and quirky stories and in the local excellent food and wine produced here in Kent. My aim is to entertain as well as inform, and share some of the secrets 'behind the scenes' here. I believe that it is my real local knowledge, plus my love of the county and of guiding, plus my training as a professional Blue-Badge Guide help me to show The Gateway to England at its best!

Tour guide services/sample itinerary:

Customised tour and itinerary planning throughout South East England. Shore excursions, cultural and heritage programmes, study tours and family fun. Tours by coach, car or walking for groups, families and individuals. Even in a short while I can offer a taste of England, perhaps a walk along the White Cliffs of Dover, a visit to the Western Heights, the site of a 12th century Knights Templar Church and Napoleonic fortifications. We could enjoy a visit to Dover Castle, known as 'The Key to England' or follow the Ian Fleming story on the James Bond Trail ! The medieval city of Canterbury with its stunning Cathedral, cobbled streets and bustling shopping centre could be on the daily specials menu. Within an hour or so of Dover lie castles, stately homes and cathedrals, and some of the prettiest countryside England has to offer. Also on offer, zoo parks, farms, museums and galleries many of whom offer locally produced wines, ciders and beers as well as fresh seafood, fish and chips and, of course, cream teas ! The only trouble is that there are just not enough hours in the day !
