Rumi Private tour guide in Chiba, Kamakura, Tokyo - Japan

Rumi

Guide profile:

Would you like to tour around Tokyo with a friendly, caring local? Wouldn’t it be better if that “local” is a licensed tour guide and a Japanese language teacher? I’m a professional Japanese teacher who has newly obtained a national tour guide license.

I love meeting new people, so I’ve been actively guiding foreign visitors in and around Tokyo as a volunteer for the past couple of years. The more I do so, the more I fall deeply in love with my little country full of wonders.

I love Kabuki and other Japanese traditional performing arts. I myself have been learning Japanese classical dance for over 15 years and Sencha tea ceremony for 5 years. I also love Japanese pop-culture and anime.

I’m a food lover, and as a homemaker/mother, I’ve been doing Japanese home cooking for about 25 years. I make everything from scratch (which means I never use factory made dashi-broth or instant seasonings) and even make Osechi ― Japanese traditional new year dishes ― every year.

I love children of all ages as I am a mother myself.

If you would like, I can teach you some useful Japanese phrases while guiding you.

See you in Japan!

Rumi was fantastic. We had a lot. Of places w wanted to see and she put together a great itinerary for us. Picked us up early from the hotel and take get us how to navigat a very cute man lex subway and train system. My daughter was very inter eyed in anime and she took us to some great spots. Rumi was very patient as my daughter shopped and helped translate for us with the sales associates. I highly recommend her for touring Tokyo.
