EXPERIENCE THE EMERALD ISLE on my tours. Let me be your personal guide! Romantic Ireland is not dead and gone on them at least. Whilst I am a DUBLINER, I have sojourned in other places in Ireland, moving between Dublin, Galway, the west of Ireland and Belfast and the North East of Ireland. As Ireland's history is so full of heartache, rebellion, pathos, wit, characters, writers, raconteurs, thus making it a real melting pot, exploring it, is best sampled with someone who's walked streets, countryside, hidden and sacred places, nooks and crannies, since the 80's! In addition to my knowledge of Ireland, having travelled to many places in the country, I see myself as a man of Ireland! The Emerald Isle lies deep within my heart! Hence, I am an Ireland Tour Guide!

As well as being a freelance tour guide, I'm also a writer and bardic poet. I've written and published heritage articles and tourist blogs on the Web, for instance. I offer very insightful, informative & entertaining tours with a difference - I can do the 'touristy' bits and pieces but I stand out as I can also show you the hidden gems (SEE MY CLIENT COMMENTS!). I specialise in private Walking Tours and my secret is with my all round package, I can make it varied or TAILOR IT for the individual's interest (s). I've been studying medieval/contemporary/ancient history, literature, mythology/legends of Ireland, folklore and songs etc for many years. In addition, I have also travelled to hidden places in my country over an elongated period so have an extensive background.

Rob was really good, and pitched his style to the very wide range of ages in the group. Our tour was two hours around Dublin City centre, and was everything that we had asked for. Thanks!

Tour Guide Comment: It was nice to accomodate you, Neville, and to behold a group from the north of England and get a touch of the Geordie spirit. Warm greetings.

We spent a wonderful day with Rob in Dublin. He is exceptionally knowledgeable and so enthusiastic about his city and country. His point of difference is that he entertained us with poetry and speeches that made the unique Irish history come alive. We learnt so much but also had a fun day...he was flexible (it rained so we went into the oldest pub for some lunch), intelligent, worldly and we recommend him without hesitation!

Tour Guide Comment: Positive Vibrations, Barbara. As you have alluded to, It's not quantity that counts but quality which is what I attempt to do.

5 stars Anna T. 01 Jul 2014

Rob was a wonderful tour guide with an obvious passion for his country. His anecdotes and historical references were highly informative and very entertaining. Our family of seven, ages 16 to 82 years learned a great deal within a spirit of good cheer and fun. I would recommend him without reservation.

Tour Guide Comment: You were a nice family, Anna, and it was very nice to guide you around a couple of Irish cities. Slainte from the passionate Irishman.

5 stars Cathy S. 02 Aug 2013

Rob provided us with an "insider's view" of the beautiful city of Dublin. Seemingly normal buildings were brought to life the way the inhabitants lived in them years ago. The streets no one would venture down, held countless stories of history and courage. If you are interested in learning about the history of Dublin and how it came to be today, I would encourage you to spend time with Rob, he will enlighten and entertain you and leave you with an appreciation of his beloved country.

Tour Guide Comment: May the rain fall softly in your fields, Cathy! The best of glad tidings to you from the old sod!

5 stars Paula M. 09 Jun 2013

Rob made Dublin and the Irish culture come alive for us. He's affable, entertaining and interesting! I highly recommend him.

Tour Guide Comment: It was a pleasure Paula. The discourse and exchange were invigorating!

We enjoyed his ability to recite poems.

Rob was a great guide with a ton of knowledge. I would highly recommend him to anyone without hesitation.

Tour Guide Comment: Best regards John. It was good to expound information with you.

5 stars Thom T. 19 May 2012

Echoing the promotional commercial for the PGA, "This guy is good!" I will not hesitate to recommend Rob to anyone who is interested in a walking tour of Dublin. He is, perhaps, the best guide I've had the pleasure to work with. You will not be disappointed. Hearing him recite Yeats' "The Stolen Child" in front of Yeats' house at #82 in Merrion Sq. was worth the price of the tour! 5+ stars out of 5 stars!

Tour Guide Comment: From one writer to another, Thom, the pleasure was mutual! We might only cross paths but once in time but if it can be a good one, all the better.

5 stars Robin R. 17 May 2012

Thanks to Rob, we had the most fantastic day in Dublin. Rob led an "off the beaten path" walking tour so we had the opportunity to visit places many tourists don't know exist. He included lots of history, songs and poetry. Rob is passionate, enthusiastic and energetic, not to mention an exceptionally nice person with a great sense of humor. We would not hesitate to recommend him as a tour guide to anyone fortunate enough to visit his beautiful city. Thank you again, Rob!!!

Tour Guide Comment: There is no greater accomplishment than to know one extended a full and hearty "Cead Mile Failte" and that is what I sought to do with ye by the nature of the day. And to have reached that goal with you, Robin, Adam and Co, makes it particularly satisfying!

5 stars Hartwig R. 07 Feb 2012

Thank you for a unique day! Rob, that was fantastic. That was Dublin at its best. Cultural facts, living history and a maximum of personal identification to the history of the irish people.

You did much more than one can expect. We will keep that day as a unique one in our minds.

Hartwig and Michael

Tour Guide Comment: That's a fine comment, Hartwig. It was great to meet people so highly esteemed in Germany. Beannacht De!

Rob is a fantastic guide! He matched his tour exactly to our requests. He was pleasant, informative and entertaining. His knowledge of Dublin and Ireland's history was astounding and he was fun to spend a day with. Very flexible and giving of his time. Ask him to sing or recite poetry for a real treat. Would recommend him to anyone visiting Dublin.

Tour Guide Comment: Very happy to have helped and met such fit and spritely people. Ta suil agam a fheic tu aris, James! (I hope to see you again)

5 stars Paula J. 16 Jul 2010

Rob's tour of Dublin was really good. It was filled with detailed bits about well-known places and interesting bits about unknown places. As my trip through Ireland progressed, what I learned on my day with Rob really helped. I highly recommend a walking tour of Dublin with Rob!

Tour Guide Comment: Go raibh maith agat, Paula! Most of all, glad that I opened a door for you as you took in other parts of the country.

5 stars Jeannette C. 31 Dec 2009

Rob was terrific! He spent as much time with us as we wanted, and tailored our tour of Dublin as we desired... even modifying it on the fly. He enhanced the experience with songs or poem recitations of the statues or historical places we were seeing. I've had guides in the Alhambra, Paris, and Florence and Rob is one of the best. Thanks and I'll never forget Dublin!

Tour Guide Comment: Good Jeanette. Glad you won't forget! Very best to you in the future. Le gach bhui!

5 stars Lily D. G. 04 Oct 2009

Besides being a walking book of a wealth of Irish History knowledge, Robert is a very special, and kind person with a heart of Gold. We 5 women from Oregon recommend him without any reservations. He is extremely passionate about Irish history, and it shows in his excitment whe he is telling you about it. He is extremely fair and reasonably priced. Just a word of warning though, you had better have a very good pair of walking shoes, because Robert will give you the exercise of your life.

Tour Guide Comment: Indeed, Lily! And nice sentiments expressed. Slan agus Beannacht! (God Bless!)

5 stars Ellen W. 25 Sep 2009

Robert is a friendly man who knows a lot about history. He tells lots of interesting things about the city and his writers also. We enjoyed it very much. Next time we will certainly book Robert again!

Tour Guide Comment: Go n-eiri an bothar romhat (MAY THE ROAD RISE BEFORE YOU) See you all next time, Ellen!

5 stars Andrew C. 09 Sep 2009

Rob was a very flexible tour guide. Rob wove for us a beautiful tapestry of Irish culture through means of personal reflection, literature, poetry and music. Rob took us to many out of the way, overlooked treasures in Dublin. We highly recommend Rob to anyone wishing to experience true Irish culture in a refreshing fashion. We experienced far more in 6 hours than our fellow cruisers did in their bus tours. Thanks, Rob! Andrew, Blue Ridge, Virginia, USA

Tour Guide Comment: Ta failte romhat Andrew! You guys were a bit of 'craic'. Regards from the Emerald Isle.

5 stars Barbara G. 24 Aug 2009

Dear Rob, You are a top class tour guide which we are so delighted we booked. We very much enjoyed spending time with you learning about Dublin and

Irish history. Thank you for your enthusiasm and depth of knowledge. I am telling all my friends!!!

Tour Guide Comment: Thank you Barbara and you're very welcome. Ta failte romhat!

5 stars John G. 15 Aug 2009

Rob did a super job. Both my wife and I were struck at his depth of understanding of Irish history/culture. We spent an entire day on an extensive walking tour of Dublin and visited several locations. Both of us like to make connections between topics and Rob proved to be a master at this. The time and money we spent booking Rob was worth every cent both in terms of value and enjoyment of Dublin - in many ways it was more than a tour, it was an 8-hour conversation and we made a new friend.

Tour Guide Comment: It was a pleasure to meet both you - John - and your wife and to lead you on a tour. Slan go foill!
