I was a movie and TV subtitle translator when I lived in Tokyo for more than 20 years. After moving to Kyoto in 2012, I became more and more interested in our own history and culture again, took the license and became a certified guide.
Another reason I decided to become a tour guide was the 2011 big earthquakes and tsunami that hit my hometown in northern Japan. A lot of people from all over the world came there to help. I really thanked them and enjoyed working with them. I really enjoyed helping them communicate with local people and have a good time in a small town in Japan. After half year stay there, I thought I could do the same things as a tour guide.
Now I really enjoy learning and sharing with people from all over the world. I love reading a lot of books and find “a-ha” similarities between otherwise random things, which help my customers understand and enjoy the hidden meanings of random things in Japan. One customer said I “truly make sense of everything.”
I am quite fit, flexible and spontaneous, so I can meet their needs and wants and help them make the best of their precious time. I always look for new places and attractions in Kyoto and I'd love to share them with my customers.
My customers were always happy with my English fluency, which they say is unfortunately rare in Japan. My English is clear and easy to listen to and understand. I am quite good at establishing rapport at first sight and keeping relaxed atmosphere all day long. They apprecitate my patience.
One lady wrote, “He tolerated my indecisions cheerfully. I, personally don't think I could have been as tolerant.”
Again, I am always eager to help you make your stay in Japan enjoyable and unforgettable. Please let me help you.
