Miki Kaneko Private tour guide in Tokyo - Japan

Miki Kaneko

Guide profile:

Currently, I'm afraid I don't provide any tours due to my health issues. I'm hoping to come back in year 2020 when we have Olympic Games in Tokyo! I am very sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you very much for your patience.

I've lived/studied/worked in Tokyo for more than 40 years and currently live near Ginza. Tokyo is such an attractive city, where you can experience modern and traditional together. I would love to customize your tour according to your interests so you can enjoy this big city fully.

My own lunch/transportation cost is covered in the fixed rate. Also you don't need to pay entrance fees for me because my license covers most of them.

FYI: I am good with children since I raised two boys myself and I have an experience of teaching English at elementary school.

I also had taught basic English at major companies like Fujitsu and Sumitomo Chemical, as well as The University of Tokyo Hospital and Opera Studio of New National Theater.

*** I'm afraid I don't provide any tours for big groups or any tours to Fuji/Hakone/Nikko. Thank you very much for your understanding. ***

Miki was wonderful and I highly recommend her. We only had a few days in Tokyo and she showed us the must-see highlights. She was extremely knowledgable and shared insights that we never would have picked up ourselves. She also went above and beyond to help us book a late night taxi to catch our flight. Highly recommend Miki!

I would have never seen so much of Tokyo without Miki's help. With just two days covered a lot of ground saw many different places learned about the culture there and what daily life is like also her knowledge of the history of Tokyo was excellent Miki was absolutely wonderful had such a wonderful time even though it was short and was so kind and helpful with any questions I had.

Miki was a amazing tour guide. She researched and found things that we had specifically requested for our trip. Also she made excellent recommendations to add to our trip. Because of her we were able to see all we wanted to and then some. If we had even tried to do it on our own we would have seen such a small fraction of what we wanted to it would have hardly been worth the trip. She was very accommodating with the needs and desires of my 74 year old father and 13 year old son. Wonderful!

Miki is great! We threw her some curves but she did a fantastic job! In addition to the wonderful tour, she prepared us to easily understand the mass transit system, identified fabulous restaurants and shopping and gave us a perfect foundation to enjoy Tokyo. Thank you Miki!

My wife and I had never been to Tokyo, so we decided to treat ourselves to a guide, and so, we spent two wonderful days with Miki. Miki helped us experience Tokyo as we never could have on our own. Miki is utterly delightful and has spent her entire life here. Debi and I now consider ourselves Tokyophiles, thanks to the wonderful guidance of Miki. We cannot wait to come back and spend more wonderful hours with her.

We had a fabulous day in Tokyo with Kaneko-san. She found places and experiences for us that we weren't expecting and that turned out the be the highlight of the trip -- my daughter can't stop talking about the Hedgehog Cafe. Though we saw an awful lot during our one day, it never seemed rushed. Kaneko-san was a real find -- I highly recommend her.

Miki is an absolutely wonderful guide. Our first day in Tokyo was warm (despite the cold weather) because of her kindness and attentiveness. We learned so much at every site because of her knowledge and cultural insights. She organised multiple options for our vegetarian lunch. She even helped us replace some shoes which broke on the day and also navigate the supermarket for snacks. We had a really lovely time. Thank you so much Miki!

Miki is a tremendous guide. We visited Tokyo and had only two days to get a sense of life in central Tokyo. Through Viator we booked Miki as our guide for a two day walking/public transit tour. We gave her only vague ideas on what interested us and left to her to develop our tour.

Miki did a fabulous job --- she is knowledgeable, speaks great English, and shared with us sites we should never have seen. Her warmth and personable manner makes touring with her a treat. Thank you Miki,

Miki was an outstanding tour guide, and a very nice person as well. She showed me everything I wanted to see, and had some great ideas of her own. She's very knowledgeable regarding Japanese history and culture. I would highly recommend her to anyone hoping to find the "real" Tokyo.

WOW is the one word I would use to describe Miki. She was amazing from start to end. I wanted to plan a custom tour for my boyfriend's bday. Miki was prompt to reply, gave many recommendations and patiently worked with me until I was happy. We definitely had THE perfect day! My boyfriend was surprised and delighted by every detail. Miki is knowledgeable, friendly, and well-connected. I highly recommend Miki as she truly goes above and beyond. Arigato gozaimasuy Miki san!

Miki was a very kind, patient and flexible guide. She met us at Narita airport and helped us through our first three days in Japan. We are so thankful. She leads a good tour and can make adjustments as needed. Thank you again Miki!

Miki is a fantastic guide.

We are group of 7 including children and an infant. Miki did everything perfect for us. Even when we were undecided. She also made great recommendations for restaurants.

At the begining of our days in Tokyo we were quite lost but she made all easy and familiar.

Thank you for your kindness and empathy.

Absolutely fantastic lady !! My grandchildren and myself enjoyed her knowledge, her flexibility, her kindness and her lovely child friendly personality-just exceptional and would highly recommend. Thankyou Miss Miki for spending 3 full days with myself and my grandchildren and hope to hire your services again when we return to Japan.

Miki was absolutely marvelous as a guide and a friend. From sightseeing to the best food experiences, she smiled her way through it all. Tokyo was a great experience thanks largely to Miki!!

Miki was the highlight of our entire trip to Japan. She was great with communicating before, during and even after the trip she sent us more recommendations! The timing on our activities was perfect. It was so nice having to not figure out everything on our own, it was like a friend was taking us around their city. She provided insight and knowledge, and helpful tips we wouldn't have gotten anywhere else. She was simply the best! I wish we had her with us the entire trip!

Before the trip, I contacted Miki about the possible itinerary for my trip. She emailed me back quickly and answered all my questions. On the day of the trip, she took us to every place in the itinerary. We had lunch at Tsukiji Fish Market. It was the best chirashi bowl I ever had. We went to Senoji temple, took pictures with Hachi statue and did famous crossing at Shibuya. We had a great time. Miki is personable and professional and we highly recommend her.

Miki is an outstanding guide. Our pre-tour communication deciding on our itinerary was friendly, prompt, and clear. We had a very full day with multiple subway rides, boat ride, museums, temple, shrine, gardens, restaurant. It felt like sightseeing with a knowledgeable good friend. We're looking forward to our second day with Miki. Excellent English. Highly recommend with no reservations.

I cannot recommend Miki enough - she was an excellent guide. She tailored a two day tour for me and my 15 year old daughter and was able to flex the schedule quickly when the weather changed. She was full of great information and insight on the sights and life in Tokyo/Japan. We both come away with a much better appreciation of Japan. I will be recommending her to all my colleagues and friends that visit Japan. Thank you Miki!

Miki was a fantastic tour guide. I cannot recommend her highly enough. She had great ideas about where to go and what to see with the time that we had. And my 19 year old daughter also thought she was terrific. Plus she was fun to spend time with.

Booked a tour with Miki a few months earlier based on the good reviews in Viator and her fast response to my email. As my main reason for coming to Japan this time is to enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms, she suggested an itinery where I got to see the beautiful sakura at few places and brought us to try delicious Japanese cuisines too. She is very knowledgeable and friendly. She helped us take beautiful photos too. It feels like travelling with a close friend. Highly recommended!!

I can't say enough good things about Miki. She guided me and my family on our first day in Tokyo. We saw a ton of sites, had great food, and learned the ropes of the Tokyo subway system. I would highly recommend her!

My husband and I spent two unforgettable days with Miki. We had Tokyo day tour on April 20 and day tour in Kamakura on April 21. Miki is everything we would want a tour guide to be: intelligent, articulate, with nice personality and good sense of humor. She listened to us when we were preparing our meeting, and designed day program based on our interests and preferences. She showed us exciting places that we would never see without her. Talking to her about day-to-day life in modern Japan was in

Our experience with Miki Kaneko was wonderful, she is an excellent person and took us to the most interesting and beautiful places in our private tour for our group. She also took us to have lunch to a delicious and fresh sushi in the fish market... the best of the world!!! Thank you very much.

This is very tardy! Booked a tour with Miki early last year as we were traveling to Vietnam for our son's wedding. We had planned to spend a couple of days in Tokyo; arrived at night & were expecting Miki in the morning. Overnight, Tokyo got the most snow it'd had in 40 years! Despite the difficult conditions (a lot of snow/wind), Miki gave us a wonderful tour & even said she was glad she'd gotten out to see the city in snow. She turned what could have been a bad experience into a very good one.

5 stars Kathryn C. 04 Feb 2014

Miki was a wonderful guide who made the most out of the snowy day we had.

We had a wonderful time, and would recommend her highly.

Thank you for the wonderful day!

Miki was a patient and delightful guide that could get along with the young crowd in my group. She understands our needs and could accommodate to our request when requested. I very much enjoymy time with Miki during the tour would definitely not hesitate to book her again in the future. Highly recommended to anyone who's going to Tokyo for the first time.

Due in large part to our guide, Miki, we had a very memorable experience in Tokyo and left knowing we will return. Miki was the perfect combination of professional and personal. Her knowledge was complete and personality meshed with ours perfectly. Miki made sure we were able to visit Tsukiji Fish Market, Asakusa Senso-ji Temple, Nakamise Shopping Mall, Lunch at Maekawa in Shin-Maru-Biru Building, Big Crossing and Hachi Statue in Shibuya, Wedding Ceremony at Meiji Shrine and much more.

Miki was a delight. She was very personable, and knowledgeable and spared nothing to be sure we saw and enjoyed all that the time we had would allow. I would recommend Mike Kaneko to anyone traveling to that part of the world. She is a true professional.

Miki was a great help getting us around the major sites. We covered a massive amount of ground in the day and found Miki to be very helpful in answering our questions and also assisting with some other bookings prior to our arrival. She recommended other places to eat and also assisted via email a couple of times throughout the trip. She was great at suggesting taking photos of my Mum and I and had good knowledge about the various places we were visited. She was lovely to spend the day with!

Miki was very helpful with our visit to the Saihoji Temple. It was a spiritual visit and she assisted us to find the gravestone and memorial stone we went to see. We were a little dis-appointed that a tea ceremony wasn't arranged but I think it was the wrong day for that and not Miki's fault.

My husband and I booked 2 full days in Tokyo with Miki in September 2014. Immediately, we were impressed with her prompt, helpful, clear e mail communications before our departure from home. In Tokyo, Miki proved to be a charming, reliable guide with perfect English and a good sense of humor.

We asked lots of difficult questions. Anything she didn't know, she immediately researched to give us relevant answers.

Miki is a lovely, good 'ambassador' for her country!!!

What we liked best about Miki is that she arranged for us to see some sights that we feel we wouldn't have been able to do otherwise (Sumo practice, Ghibli Museum). Although she is soft spoken, she has much to say when asked. And she isn't afraid to apologize if something doesn't go as planned.

We spent a very nice 3 days in Toyko with Miki!

We travel a lot and have hired private tour guide on many occasions. Miki was by far the BEST tour guide we ever had. She is very knowledgeable, has a great sense of humor and all around such a nice person. We did not feel like we spent a day with a tour guide, but rather a friend showing us around Tokyo. Miki was also very helpful with restaurants recommendations and made a reservation for us which we have enjoyed very much. I'm saving Miki's email for our next visit to Tokyo!

She was very pleasant, spoke fluent English. She set up an itinerary that fitted nicely with our interest. We had strong rain on our way to a garden and there was no back up plans (other than getting an extra umbrella). Perhaps suggesting a museum would have been appropriate. Thankfully, the rain did not last and the garden pleasant nonetheless.

I felt that for a licenced guide, there was some knowledge gaps in Japanese culture, but she searched for answers to our questions.

Tour Guide Comment: Dear Dr. H, Thank you for your review. I'm afraid I did suggest visiting Tokyo National Museum. I am sorry for the miscommunications. Kind regards, Miki
