I'm Maica, a licensed tour guide (number 2435) and proud of being a Barcelonian. Despite I've always been around the tourism world, I have a Linguistic and teaching background. After completing my English and Hispanic University Studies, I moved to Scotland where where I did a Msc in Applied Linguistics and worked as a tour guide for Spanish and Italian tourists, so I started studying History, Art and the agency trained me . Seven years later I decided to come back home (sweet home!). At first I taught Spanish to foreigners with my own methodology: using the street as a clasroom and lots of story telling techniques (I was a story teller for children and adults in libraries, hospitals, schools and elderly residences). I did so for some years and it was how I discovered my passion to show my home town. Therefore I became a licensed tour guide in 2005. Now it's my full time job. I love it. It's extremely rewarding and it keeps me always busy exploring, reading and learning.
As a licensed tour guide I have PREMIUM access to all monuments. Very convinient since when on holidays time becomes precious: we'll skip the lines even in UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the work of Antoni Gaudí, such as Sagrada Familia or Park Güell.
You are the boss, therefore I will design the best visit just for you. My tours are tailor made depending on your time and interests, but because Barcelona is very eclectical, I make sure you won't miss some off the beaten-track sites to gain a feeling of local life. I'll be very happy to recommend, my main concern is to make you live unforgettable experiences.
I'm very much used to dealing with all kinds of people and my explanations are very dynamic, instructive and a pleasure to the ears. I am very flexible and my tours are adapted either to shore excursions or private tours. I love to tour couples, friends, single visitors and, as a mother of a 13 year old child, families as well.
It will be a honor to accompany you while discovering all these treasures.
Hope to meet you soon and thanks for reading my profile!
