Fernando Escobar

Guide profile:

I was born in Honduras and have been living in San Salvador for the last 14 years. Culture and History have always been my passion. I love to introduce foreigners to my culture. I have a degree in Socio Cultural Anthropology, with emphasis on Mesoamerican Culture, which I got in San Salvador. I specialize in tours to the Mayan Ruins, City-tours, Layover Tours, I love doing outdoor activities like Nature Hikes, Surfing, Snorkeling and Scuba Diving. My favorite tours are the ones to Copan in Honduras, Ruta de las Flores and Mayan Ruins in El Salvador. I also love doing the Santa Ana Volcano Hikes and swimming in Lake Coatepeque.

My background as a Tourguide comes from working for Gadventures and Intrepid Travel as a tourleader through all Central America. Im very familiar with all Central America, restaurants, hotels, activities, highlights and useful contacts. For Years I led groups of travellers through the Costarican Cloudforest, the Nicaraguan Colonial Towns and beautiful beaches, the Hondurean Copan Ruins, the Salvadorean Volcanoes and the Guatemalan Mayan Establishments.

Part of my experience is also as a volunteer for different Institutions like the National Vulcanology Department, the National Museum of Anthropology and the Culture National Department.

I promote the Responsible Traveling, the Respect of Nature and the Locals. I own a small tourism business called Toursinelsalvador, you can also check that for different tourism services.

Fernando really knew his archeology! And he knew current events, history and would talk about anything. He made the trip special and we enjoyed the various stops planned and unplanned. Great tour guide. He picked terrific places for lunch and indulged our birding as a sideline.

Fernando is the best tour guide I haveever meet, taking everything in stride, no challenge too great, no plan too ambitious, catering to my every whim, and making sure that my trip went as perfectly as possible. He is smart, lively, and hard-working and served as the perfect cultural ambassador, helping me deal with the ins and outs of the unfamiliar culture. My trip would not have been the same without him, and I recommend him highly for any tour.

Fernando was a great tour guide. He took us everywhere we wanted to go, from the airport to downtown, to the mountains, and to different neighborhoods in the city. It was a blast and we highly recommend him.

Fernando took us for a great hike on Itzalco Volcano and the next day we did the major archaeological sites with an added trip to the Ruta de Flores. Besides being knowledgeable on the history of central America he was also very good at explaining recent issues in the region. Great trip and a great guide.
