GUTEN TAG from Brasov and BUNA ZIUA from Bucharest -- that is HELLO !! Why two cities in just one presentation ?!
About my Bucharest story: born and raised here, majored in English in 1996 and got an MA in American Studies in 1997 from the University of Bucharest.
In 1998 I signed up for a training course in tour guiding at the European Cultural Center in Bucharest. This is how I started guiding English-speaking tourists from the USA, the UK, CANADA, and ISRAEL...
Then I joined the US-Romanian Fulbright Commission and guided prospective applicants to academic studies in the USA. Guiding again... Plus a great chance to be exposed to the American academic life during my professional visits in Washington DC, upstate New York, Texas and Pennsylvania campus visits, Baltimore and Michigan state educational conference, or during private touristic visits in Nevada, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, and sunny California!!
I met my Romanian husband in Israel, got married and followed him to BRASOV, the city right in the middle of Romania, probably the best city in the world...
One will always start visiting Romania from Bucharest the capital city, better known as "Little Paris".
But one should not miss Brasov, a.k.a. Kronstadt, the "Crown City" of the "Siebenburgen" -- the Seven Cities of Transylvania... Well, Dracula was NOT here, but still there are some good reasons to enjoy this medieval city: the Black Church, the Towers, the Rope Street, also a walk on Tampa Alley or a panoramic view from the Citadel.
Let’s not forget the surroundings: Dracula’s Castle in Bran, the Peasant Citadel in Rasnov, the medieval citadel of Sighisoara & the Saxon fortified churches listed under UNESCO World Heritage. How about going off the beaten track to Viscri, Prince of Wales' village in Transylvania!
This is how I got tour guiding expertise of BOTH BUCHAREST & BRASOV plus the surroundings.
