Private sightseeing tour Introduction:
Found 1976, thanks to research by Canadian scientist Fred Urquhart, the winter refuge of the monarch butterfly in central Mexico is a real wonder of nature. Declared a UNESCO protected natural site in 2008, it´s the green place where butterflies that leave Canada & the United States mountain areas in the fall come & hide in the woods of “El Rosario” sanctuary (Michoacán, Mexico), to hibernate from late November to February. Due to their sexual maturing in March, they reproduce a new generation of butterflies that will continue the millennial migration flight to North America; when the spring begins. Well preserved to present day by WWF & Monarch Watch among other NGO´s is now recovering from a serious reduced number of butterflies from the last 5 years. Note: It´s possible to customize tour to +3 people.

Alfredo de la Cruz is an exceptional guide!!
He has studied at the University of Mexico in Tourism and thus is not only knowledgeable, professional, and articulate, but is charming, pays attention to the most important to smallest details and made us feel like we were very appreciated and respected. He became a fast friend. His command of the English language perfect! He gave us a wonderful interior tour of his county and “Tarascan” Indian roots/heritage, including an authentic lunch at the end of our tour! Alfredo is extremely knowledgeable regarding the Monarchs and their present status, as well as flora and fauna on our trip. He truly made our visit magical to these very special Mountains. Words cannot describe and cameras cannot capture. Alfredo actually took some of the best pictures with our camera. A very talented, passionate, and charming man. He knows the area and where it is safe to stop and have a rest room break etc. Thank you Alfredo for getting us to El Rosari

Alfredo is an excellent guide, professional, informative, and with perfect English. He paid attention to details, providing sun shade, walking sticks, even wipes. We had a superb day, the Monarch's were astounding, and Alfredo made lunch extra interesting by explaining the Mexican dishes so we could try new foods. Thank you Alfredo for a wonderful day and we would certainly recommend you to anyone looking for a very special guide.

You are welcome Jim! I Thank you for sharing your OMG day at the monarchs!
An all day all around fantastic experience! Alfredo is a gem among travel guides -- friendly, informative, funny, and a pleasure to spend time with. We definitely highly recommend him and want to do more trips with him in the future. Alfredo does small, personal tours and makes you feel like family. And he gave us great tips for local sightseeing in Morelia.
Alfredo was a personable , knowledgable and very capable tour guide. The way in which he willingly shared information about his country and culture, along with, his knowledge of the butterfly reserve made the tour so worthwhile. Book him. You won't be disappointed
Alfredo was an exceptional guide for our Monarch tour. He made the long drive over interesting - offering enough info to keep the time moving but not over-loading us! He knew a lot about not only El Rosario but the monarchs, the milkweed varieties, the birds & was very familiar with the local people. We had an exceptional day. He included a great lunch & got us home safely. Above all, he was very patient with us when we needed a rest! It's quite a hike! Thanks, Alfredo! So glad we went.
Alfredo did a fantastic job! Seeing the monarchs was the highlight of our entire time in Mexico. He was early picking us up from the hotel and his car was very clean. He drove very safely and frequently paused to help us take the best photos. He's very knowledgeable and speaks excellent English. Would highly recommend you use him for any trip to central Mexico!
