Guide profile:

EXPERIENCE THE EMERALD ISLE with me! Romantic Ireland is not dead and gone on my tours at least. Whilst I am a DUBLINER, I have sojourned in other places in Ireland, but Dublin has always acted as my base. This is why I'm so happy that it's now the fourth UNESCO CITY OF LITERATURE! With its history of heartache, rebellion, pathos, wit, characters, writers, raconteurs, it is a real melting pot, which is best sampled with someone who's walked its streets, and nooks and crannies since the 80's! Additionally, with my knowledge and having travelled to many places in Ireland, I see myself as a man of Ireland!

A freelance tour guide, writer and bardic poet, I've written and published heritage articles and tourist blogs on the Web. I offer very insightful, informative & entertaining tours with a difference - I can do the 'touristy' bits and pieces but I stand out as I can also show you the hidden gems (SEE MY CLIENT COMMENTS!). I specialise in private Walking Tours and my secret is with my all round package, I can make it varied or TAILOR IT for the individual's interest (s). I've been studying medieval/contemporary/ancient history, literature, mythology/legends of Ireland, folklore and songs etc for many years. In addition, I have also travelled to some hidden places in my country so have an extensive background.

Rob is a fantastic guide! He matched his tour exactly to our requests. He was pleasant, informative and entertaining. His knowledge of Dublin and Ireland's history was astounding and he was fun to spend a day with. Very flexible and giving of his time. Ask him to sing or recite poetry for a real treat. Would recommend him to anyone visiting Dublin.

Tour Guide Comment: Very happy to have helped and met such fit and spritely people. Ta suil agam a fheic tu aris! (I hope to see you again)

Rob's tour of Dublin was really good. It was filled with detailed bits about well-known places and interesting bits about unknown places. As my trip through Ireland progressed, what I learned on my day with Rob really helped. I highly recommend a walking tour of Dublin with Rob!

Tour Guide Comment: Go raibh maith agat, Paula! Most of all, glad that I opened a door for you as you took in other parts of the country.

Rob was terrific! He spent as much time with us as we wanted, and tailored our tour of Dublin as we desired... even modifying it on the fly. He enhanced the experience with songs or poem recitations of the statues or historical places we were seeing. I've had guides in the Alhambra, Paris, and Florence and Rob is one of the best. Thanks and I'll never forget Dublin!

Tour Guide Comment: Good Jeanette!! Glad you won't forget!! Very best to you in the future. Le gach bhui!

Besides being a walking book of a wealth of Irish History knowledge, Robert is a very special, and kind person with a heart of Gold. We 5 women from Oregon recommend him without any reservations. He is extremely passionate about Irish history, and it shows in his excitment whe he is telling you about it. He is extremely fair and reasonably priced. Just a word of warning though, you had better have a very good pair of walking shoes, because Robert will give you the exercise of your life.

Tour Guide Comment: Indeed, indeed, Lily! Slan agus Beannacht! (God Bless!)

Robert is a friendly man who knows a lot about history. He tells lots of interesting things about the city and his writers also. We enjoyed it very much. Next time we will certainly book Robert again!

Tour Guide Comment: Go n-eiri an bothar romhat (MAY THE ROAD RISE BEFORE YOU!) See you all next time, Ellen!

Rob was a very flexible tour guide. Rob wove for us a beautiful tapestry of Irish culture through means of personal reflection, literature, poetry and music. Rob took us to many out of the way, overlooked treasures in Dublin. We highly recommend Rob to anyone wishing to experience true Irish culture in a refreshing fashion. We experienced far more in 6 hours than our fellow cruisers did in their bus tours. Thanks, Rob! Andrew, Blue Ridge, Virginia, USA

Tour Guide Comment: Ta failte romhat Andrew! You guys were a bit of 'craic'. Regards from the Emerald Isle!

Dear Rob, You are a top class tour guide which we are so delighted we booked. We very much enjoyed spending time with you learning about Dublin and Irish history. Thank you for your enthusiasm and depth of knowledge. I am telling all my friends!!!

Tour Guide Comment: Thank you Barbara and you're very welcome!! Ta failte romhat!

Rob did a super job. Both my wife and I were struck at his depth of understanding of Irish history/culture. We spent an entire day on an extensive walking tour of Dublin and visited several locations. Both of us like to make connections between topics and Rob proved to be a master at this. The time and money we spent booking Rob was worth every cent both in terms of value and enjoyment of Dublin - in many ways it was more than a tour, it was an 8-hour conversation and we made a new friend.

Tour Guide Comment: It was a pleasure to meet both you - John - and your wife and to lead you on a tour!! Slan go foill!
