I started my life as an independent traveler when I was the age of 14. Hiking, mountaineering, back packing, cycling, motor biking, motor homing, running my own bus company in Germany and organizing bus travels throughout Europe and into Central Sahara and Iceland were some of the steps and stages in my career as traveler and explorer. In order to feed my special interest in geological processes I studied Geology at a Uni in Germany. In Australia since 1993 and living in the Cairns area since 1995, I was and still am fascinated about the things that make this continent so vastly different from Europe. From 1997 I conducted sightseeing and special interest tours on the Atherton Tablelands and wrote a Tour Guide Book on the area. Having lived on the Atherton Tablelands for five years and explored the many aspects of its geology, nature, rainforest, agriculture and climatic contrasts, I soon developed an enthusiasm in sharing with visitors the great diversity the Atherton Tablelands and the whole area surrounding Cairns has to offer. Together with my wife Kristin I operate the tour company Northern Explorer Tours, through which we offer predominantly German speaking regular tours in the Cairns area, and also German and English speaking Private Charter Tours throughout the region. Most of our overseas guests value the tour with us as the highlight of their visit to Australia.
