Jean was sixth of series of guides that we have booked during our cruise aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship of Princess Lines. Jean amazing. She provided a personalized, well organized tour. Her knowledgeable insights to neighborhoods and history of Shanghai provided for a wonderful tour. We would highly recommend Jean! She took us the the best Shanghai dumplings ever!
Great shopping. We even saw Shanghai at night due to our late ship departure. WOW! Our twins aged 4 loved her! Thank you!!

Jean is excellent!
We visited friends living in Shanghai and had an excellent 1/2 day tour with Jean. Even our friends that live there learned things and we all had a wonderful, educational time. Jean leads a group well and speaks perfect English.

Jean is a fantastic tour guide - she is very personable & speaks great English.
My goal was to see the best of Shanghai so Jean took me the historical parts of town + mixed it up with interesting culture (tai chi & karaoke in the park!) as well as fun shopping experiences in the alleyways of the quirky & bohemian French Concession. I could not have done this on my own.
If you’re looking for a knowledgeable private tour guide & seek comfort in having a friend for the day, book Jean.
Tour Guide Comment:
Thanks Natalie. Glad that you enjoyed Shanghai of its variety.

Jean Liu was our Shanghai guide for 4 days in May 2010.
Her English is excellent and she helped us co-ordinate multiple business meetings across the city. Jean has a strong knowledge of local landmarks, restaurants, and history. She is friendly and professional. We could not have had a better guide!

I had a great time with Jean - thanks so much!!!
She is a very knowledgeable, friendly and flexible guide and I had the most perfect day in Shanghai, based on what I wanted to see.
I would recommend Jean and the tour to anyone who comes to Shangahi and would like to experience the city and its real flavour.

We had the good fortune to be guided around the wonderful city of Shanghai by Jean. She
met us at the airport, took us to our hotel via Maglev and taxi and gave us enough hints, tips and addresses(in chinese) to get us through our first 2 days until we would meet her for the city tour, it was absolutely fantastic. Jean packed so much into 1 day, her knowledge of the city is astounding. On day 2 she took us to Tongli ;-a fabulous day. Jean is a superb guide. You can't do Shanghai without her. A

We were travelling as two families for a one week trip to Shanghai. Jean
had everything superbly organised from time of pick up to time of departure.
The advantage of using Jean as a tour guide was that all along, all things went very smoothly. We managed to see all of our planned itinerary at also some extra. Jean was conscious of costs and ensured we got best value out of the stay. I would not try to visit a Chinese city without the services of a tour guide in the future.
Tour Guide Comment:
Thanks Ken. It has been a very nice week for me as well. Say hello to the kids.

Tang Bao can refer to XiaoLongBao in Shanghai, but more often is the name of a big soup-filled dumpling, basically a bun with soup inside. You do not find much stuffing like the common meat/vegetable buns. A popular kind of Tang Bao is with crab meat or crab roe inside. You can break a small hole on the skin or put a straw on top for the soup. Either way, be aware of the hot soup.

Mid-lake pavilion has been a tea house since 1885 in the Qing dynasty. The building was originally a pavilion inside the Yuyuan garden, and later turned into a meeting place for cloth business men in 1784. It is located by the zigzag bridge in Shanghai old town bazaar. Visitors can have a break with a nice tea in the 200-year-old building while watching the lake and passersby.
