I was born in Barcelona thirty two years ago and I have been working as a guide for the last five years. This is a great job because it gives me the chance to meet people from all around the world, show my city and country and tell about our culture and history.

Before becoming a tour guide I studied at the University in Barcelona and I also took a year at the University of Bergen in Norway. When I finished Translation and Interpreter Studies I travelled to South America and Asia, as I had already been to nearly everywhere in Europe. This gave me a good idea of what people needs and looks for when abroad.

At present I am back to University again, this time studying History, one of my hobbies. Anyway besides history, myths and legends, I enjoy very much talking about architecture, art and gastronomy. If you are interested in visiting the main highlights, I will be glad to take you there and tell you about the sites, if you would like to learn more specifically about a subject such as the Medieval past of the city, its Jewish Heritage, the Modern Style architecture or the Civil War, you can have your taylor-made tour. If you are looking for getting off the beaten-track, I can show you some really interesting places in the city where tourists do not usually go, so you can mix with the locals and have a more authentic experience.

Besides that, all the time there is something happening in the city. Theatre, cinema or music festivals, festivities in any of the neighborhoods, activities for families and kids, great exhibitions, traditional fairs... I will also let you know what you cannot miss meanwhile in Barcelona!

Gemma was excellent

My sister and I were in Barcelona for 3 days accompanying our 87 year old mother who is in a wheelchair.

Nothing was too much trouble for Gemma.

Her English is perfect, her knowledge very sound, she is adaptable and flexible and kind

We did a city tour and a trip to montserrat. All the practicalities for the wheelchair were considered.I would recommend Gemma very highly as a guide in and around Barcelona
