Gavin was amazing! My husband and I have been to London many times, but this was the first time taking our three children, ages 16, 12, 9. Gavin kept all 5 of us actively engaged with history, fun anecdotes, and current events. He took us on the tube, double decker bus, and walking through the historical streets of London. He tailored our tour perfectly to fit our family! We went on to Rome after London, and the kids kept saying they wish Gavin could have come with us to tour Rome.

Tour guide services/sample itinerary:

My fees are £200 for up to 4 hours and £330 for up to 8 hours. This covers your whole group.

With 2000 years of history, London is now a vibrant, cosmopolitan city. Please contact me to discuss how I can help you get the most out of your visit to London. From the famous tourist places to hidden corners, you will discover more with an enthusiastic, knowledgeable professional guide.

Highlight and in-depth tours of Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral, Tower of London, Tate Britain, Tate Modern, British Museum, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, V&A etc.

Fascinating walking tours of the City, Chelsea, Kensington, Hampstead, Southwark, Covent Garden, Soho, Docklands, Westmister, St James's, Spitalfields plus thematic tours such as Literary London, Legal London, Da Vinci Code, architectural tours etc.

Out of London, I can show you the best of Windsor, Hampton Court and Oxford by train from London. I can also recommend a vehicle and driver to take us to places such as Stratford upon Avon, Cotswolds, Salisbury, Stonehenge, Bath, Winchester, Canterbury etc. You would need to budget an extra £300-£350 for the car and driver.

Transportation by tour guide:

We will travel like Londoners using the famous red buses, tube or black taxis, but mainly on foot - the best way to experience London.

If you want to travel by car, you will need to arrange this separately - I can recommend companies that provide this service.

My friend and I asked for an "out of the touristic paths" tour of the City and areas close to tower bridge. Gavin definitely showed us what we were looking for ! With a very positive and friendly attitude, yet with great professionalism, he showed us many hidden treasures of London. His tour was enrich with countless historic and fun facts ! We were very happy and highly recommend David for your tour.

My husband and I were extremely satisfied with Gavin. We had a short stay in London (June 2012) and Gavin fit us into his schedule and created a tour specific to our needs. He was very pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable and quite interesting. His energy and his love of London helped make our short stay in London a great experience. He showed us how to use the underground/bus systems and recommended restaurants that were suited to us. Thank you Gavin for leaving us with great memories.

Gavin toured our family of four to Westminster then some shops, the falling out of the guard, and on to the British Museum. He is a wealth of knowledge from what's where in the museum, to where to stand to see the guards parade best to any fact you might want to know -- and I ask lots of questions. He has a delightful personality, took us to a good lunch restaurant and was great with recommendations for weekend activities (Greenwich) and for dinner restaurants (and how to find them !)

The London skyline is continuously evolving and there is a gleaming new addition, The Shard. At 1,016-feet high, it is the tallest building in Western Europe. The 11,000 triple-glazed panels were erected by a team of specialist rappellers. Prince Andrew, who was present at the official opening of the building this month, is going to rappel down the building on September 3rd to raise money for charity!

On February 6, 1952 King George VI died (the king featured in the film The King’s Speech) and his eldest daughter, Elizabeth, became Queen. 60 years later we are celebrating her Diamond Jubilee. On June 3rd there will be a flotilla of a thousand boats sailing along the River Thames. A new state barge, the Gloriana, will transport the Royal Family and will be rowed by former Olympic rower, Sir Steve Redgrave who will join 17 of the Queen’s oarsmen. It will be decorated with £4,000 of gold leaf and its design is based on a Viking craft and resembles the boat used by the Lord Mayor in the early 1800s. The Lord Mayor’s Show used to take place on the river which is why we have “floats” in processions!
