Guide profile:
Welcome to Emilia-Romagna, Italy! My name is Barbara. I’ve been working as a licensed tour guide of Ravenna, Bologna, Ferrara since 2000. During my study (I'm graduated from the University of Silesia (Katowice, Poland) in the science of culture and history of art.) I started to work as tour escort for the tour companies in Poland, and finally I moved to Italy more than 15 years ago. I am promoting my tours especially for the cruise market and I often work with cruise guests in Ravenna and Bologna. I offer the different tours with reasonable prices for small groups up to 7 people. But I can prepare the customized programs also for bigger size groups as well as the transport with bus (Please note that I work as a tour guide, not as the driver) I can also help you to find good restaurants offering the best regional dishes and suggest you best things to do for leisure during your trip in Emilia- Romagna. If You have some question please ask without hesitation. See you soon! Your special Tour Guide Barbara.
PLEASE NOTE: If I'm not available DON'T WORRY, I can arrange your tour with another licensed guide. Just send me email with details.

Tour guide services/sample itinerary:
The old town centre of Ravenna offers many traces of its ancient past, thanks to the very good preservation of its early Christian and Byzantine monuments. I suggest a half-day guided tour (to a maximum of 3 hours in the morning or in the afternoon) which will enable you to fully appreciate the splendours of our art and history. The visit will include the Gothic Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, the splendid Byzantine church of San Vitale, the most ancient Mausoleum of Galla Placidia and the Orthodox Baptistery located nearby the town cathedral. All these marvels can be seen simply by taking a stroll through the centre of Ravenna. During our walk in the pedestrian area you will have a chance to step into a mosaic workshop, have a pause for coffee in the main square and visit the Tomb of Dante Alighieri, Italy's most distinguished poet, who died here in 1321.
For a complete visit to Ravenna I suggest a full-day guided tour (to a maximum of 6 hours) which include other UNESCO monuments which are not mentioned above. In the center: the Archiepiscopal Museum housing the renowned 6th century ivory throne and the Chapel of Saint Andrew, the King Theodoric's Arian Baptistery (early 6th century) and the marvelous Byzantine mosaics of Sant'Apollinare in Classe located 4 km away from the city.
Transportation by tour guide:
I suggest You to ask at the help desk of your ship if the shuttle bus service between the pier of Porto Corsini and Ravenna center is available. Usually this service is offered by the ship, but it’s better to ask about it before. If You prefer the private taxi, this service costs around 25 € one way.
