MY BACKGROUND: I have been working in the tourism industry since 1999. I started my first job in a 5 star hotel in Siem Reap, the "Grand Hotel d'Angkor". I learned a lot from there; how to make the guest satisfied, to meet the guest’s needs, to make drinks, cocktails, and so on. Then I moved on to work in another 5 star hotel, the "Victoria Angkor Hotel, Siem Reap”. There I also had learned more about the managing of the work place, train other people in the team, work delegation, and so on. I was really enjoying my work then. Yet it was many years working in the hotel and later on, I felt a bit bored with thesame work every day. There I could make only small communication with the customers, basic conversation such as: How may I help you ? What would you care for to drink? How was your meal? ... So my English was not improving very much any more. At that time, the tourism ministry in Siem Reap opened an exam for the tour guide for Angkor. I went to take the exam. I passed the exam and joined the training made by the tourism ministry about Cambodian history, legend, temples, culture and so on.
My first day tour at Angkor was with two guests that stayed in the Hotel de la Paix. They were from America but they worked in Singapore. It was my first time at my new job. I presented myself to them and told them that I’d been working as the English speaking tour guide for 3 months. Then I started to explain to them in the car about Cambodia. At that time my English was not very fluent and I think they could feel that I had not been working a long time before taking a tour with them. I asked them, “How was my English?” They immediately replied “I could not understand your English at all.” Then they laughed and said again,“No I’m joking!” Before the tour ended on that day, they told me, “Sarak, tomorrow I want to visit Kulen mountain, but I don’t want you to be my tour guide any more, no need for any explanation. I want you to be my friend. I will pay you the same money and hotel charge from me, but you come with me tomorrow as my friend.”
The next day we went to Kulen mountain together, happily and friendly.
Working as a tour guide I found much better than working in the hotel. I met lots of people from around the world from different cultures. And I have learned about how to take good photographs from my new job. I know where the best places are to take good pictures. My guest said to me, “You have a good eye.You should be a photographer also.” I made lots of friends from my tour. Before they left Cambodia they told me, “When you have a chance to visit my country just let me know! I can be your tour guide there free of charge. :-)

My spouse and myself spent 10 days in Cambodia; a fantastic country with a fascinating Khmer heritage. Sarak helped us organise all the logistics and guides for our tour in both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap in a flawless way. We visited the key historic sites in Phnom Penh (Royal Palace, History museum as well as the silencing Genocide museum and Killing Fields) and around Siem Reap. The Angkor experience was unforgettable. Both Sarak as well as his colleague Mr Sear Voeurn were extremely passionat

I'm not normally leave feedback about anything; but in this case I'll make an exception....
We booked the one day tour including sunrise
FANTASTIC!!
Sarak was absolutely faultless from emailing him to initially book a guide right through to coming to my hotel the day after just before we left to make sure everything went OK and to give me my $5 booking fee back!
I would highly recomend Sarak if you're travelling to Siem Reap and you need a tour guide who will exceed your expectations

This guy is really fun, witty and knowledgeable.
He handled my travel in Siem Reap seamlessly from arrival, hotel check in, tour, until the final day in Siem Reap. On the way back to the airport, he even take me for a last tour passing by the Angkor Wat Complex for the very last time..well I guess this is not my first and last trip to Angkor, but a starting point for me to explore more sights in this amazing ancient city. Mr. Chansarak has done a wonderful job in making my stay a memorable one
