Nuon Chansarak

Guide profile:

Hello everybody, and welcome to my beautiful country of Cambodia. My name is Nuon Chansarak. I am an English speaking tour guide. I’ve been a certified tour guide for the area of Angkor, in Siem Reap for over 7 years. On my tour I’ve been sharing a lot of interesting history of many ancient temples around Siem Reap (Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, and many other impressive temples) and valuable information on today’s Cambodian cultural habits and day-to-day way of life. I organize all practical arrangements for the tour not only the small circle and Angkor area tour well, but also the visits in Beng Mealea, Koh Ker, Kbal Spean, Kulen mountain, Floating village on the Tonle Sap and in other city Phnom Penh (Royal Palace, History museum as well as the silencing Genocide museum and Killiing fields).

Siem Reap itself is rich in history and it’s not a place where one get to absorb all by just wandering on your own – hence you have me here your professional personality tour guide, and I know the best location and angle to take the best pictures as well.

I have my expert guide team call ANGKOR GUIDE SSARAK tour services so If I'm not available on your days then I also can get one of my colleagues, expert local tour guide to conduct the tour with you.

MY BACKGROUND: I have been working in the tourism industry since 1999. I started my first job in a 5 star hotel in Siem Reap, the "Grand Hotel d' Angkor". I learned a lot from there; how to make the guest satisfied, to meet the guest’s needs, to make drinks, cocktails, and so on. Then I moved on to work in another 5 star hotel, the "Victoria Angkor Hotel, Siem Reap”. There I also had learned more about the managing of the work place, train other people in the team, work delegation, and so on. I was really enjoying my work then. Yet it was many years working in the hotel and later on, I felt a bit bored with the same work every day. There I could make only small communication with the customers, basic conversation such as: How may I help you ? What would you care for to drink? How was your meal? ... So my English was not improving very much any more. At that time, the tourism ministry in Siem Reap opened an exam for the tour guide for Angkor. I went to take the exam. I passed the exam and joined the training made by the tourism ministry about Cambodian history, legend, temples, culture and so on.

My first day tour at Angkor was with two guests that stayed in the Hotel de la Paix. They were from America but they worked in Singapore. It was my first time at my new job. I presented myself to them and told them that I’d been working as the English speaking tour guide for 3 months. Then I started to explain to them in the car about Cambodia. At that time my English was not very fluent and I think they could feel that I had not been working a long time before taking a tour with them. I asked them, “How was my English?” They immediately replied “I could not understand your English at all.” Then they laughed and said again,“No I’m joking!” Before the tour ended on that day, they told me, “Sarak, tomorrow I want to visit Kulen mountain, but I don’t want you to be my tour guide any more, no need for any explanation. I want you to be my friend. I will pay you the same money and hotel charge from me, but you come with me tomorrow as my friend.”

The next day we went to Kulen mountain together, happily and friendly.

Working as a tour guide I found much better than working in the hotel. I met lots of people from around the world from different cultures. And I have learned about how to take good photographs from my new job. I know where the best places are to take good pictures. My guest said to me, “You have a good eye.You should be a photographer also.” I made lots of friends from my tour. Before they left Cambodia they told me, “When you have a chance to visit my country just let me know! I can be your tour guide there free of charge. :-)

It was a great exploration of Angkor temples for 2 days. Sarak is a great guide. He has a very pleasant personality and he is very flexible. It took me some time to understand the way I want to explore temples taking in consideration my physical abilities to withstand heat and humidity and my interest in detailed study of few temples and not as much temples as possible. Sarak and me changed the initial plan upside down and thanks to it it was a very rewarding expierience.

Sarak was very friendly and knowledgeable. He knows all the great local restaurant (which is very important for me) and he was also very fun and helpful. Last but not least he took very great pictures. He is a highly recommended tour guide.

Can I give 10 stars? Sarak was a wonderful guide. So knowledgeable about the rich history of Cambodia. He was warm and engaging- never a dull moment. He took us to so many places that we would never be able to figure out on our own. Sarak is also a great photographer and he even burned us a CD for us to take home. I will never forget my time in Siem Reap thanks to Sarak.

We used Sarak's services for 3 days in Siem Reap. Sarak was a friendly and helpful guide and very accommodating. After experiencing the first day of heat, we asked to start at sunrise on the subsequent days so that we could finish earlier and avoid some of the heat. Sarak was very obliging.

We used Viator to find a guide we could rely on for a family experience we'd remember.

Not disappointed in the least. Sarak is a very welcoming, friendly and knowledgable guide. We are so glad we found him. He has shown us many sides to this area that we would have never found on our own and caters for the needs of each of us. We would recommend Sarak to anyone

Sarak is an excellent guide - very reliable and knowledgeable. He knows Angkor very we'll and is able to take us to places for good shots but away from the crowds. He is himself a good photographer and I really appreciate him taking all those pictures of us with interesting angles.

I highly recommend him.

In brief, book Chansarak without hesitation. He made our tour the best we've ever taken anywhere. Besides being extremely knowledgeable, he meticulously took care of every detail of the tour. He made a unique experience even that much more enjoyable!

From the first contact everything went smooth and he and his driver waited us, my wife and 2 friends, in the airport. Because my wife suffers from MS, she has problems to walk and uses a walker. But Sarak did his very best and helped her so she did not miss much of all the sight seeing. He explains everything clear and took many photos with our camera, even few funny ones. A real nice guy and nothing was too much for him to entertain and bring us to nice places and good restaurants.

Sarak was excellent in every way. Another tour guide stole us from him at the airport but he handled the situation calmly and professionally. He has very strong knowledge and history of the area and of the country. He is so much fun to be with and made our trip to Siem Reap a wonderful experience. I highly recommend him and you will not be disappointed.

We are a family of 4 who travelled to Cambodia for the very first time in June with high expectation. Under Sarak's guidance throughout the 5 days tour in the Siem Reap and Angkor areas, I must say our experience at Cambodia has certainly exceeded our initial expectation by quite a large margin.

Sarak is a very polite and enthusiastic tour guide who is also knowledgeable in many aspects of the Cambodian history, namely culture and politics.

All in all we were very content and will visit ag

My spouse and myself spent 10 days in Cambodia; a fantastic country with a fascinating Khmer heritage. Sarak helped us organise all the logistics and guides for our tour in both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap in a flawless way. We visited the key historic sites in Phnom Penh (Royal Palace, History museum as well as the silencing Genocide museum and Killing Fields) and around Siem Reap. The Angkor experience was unforgettable. Both Sarak as well as his colleague Mr Sear Voeurn were extremely passionat

Right from the moment that we arrived in Siem Reap Airport, Sarak had been very reliable and personable. We were met on arrival promptly, shown to the car(airconditioned) and given chilled soft drinks to counter the 30 degree C heat! Wonderful!

Sarak was very punctual and flexible on how we wanted our time spent. He is very knowledgeable about the monuments and helped us avoid the crowd by being either one step ahead/behind tour groups. Shown us a great vista to view sunrise at Angkor Wat.

We spent 4d & 3n in Siem Reap early this month. Personally, I was not expecting much from our trip after a very disappointing stop-over in Ho Chi Mihn. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The place was wonderful; the people very warm and friendly. Sarak sent a colleague, Tom for our guide. He was a very able guide. He was fluent in English and very knowledgeable of the city and Ankor Wat's history. We will definitely come back to Siem Reap with my family and seek his services again.

Tour Guide Comment: Dear Elaine, Many thanks for using my services. As a tour guide we are making sure that all the clients using my services are happy, have fun and very enjoy on their holiday in Cambodia, return back home with big big smile :-)). I am looking forward to seeing you, your family and friends again soon :-) . Marry Christmas, Nuon Chansarak.

I'm not normally leave feedback about anything; but in this case I'll make an exception....

We booked the one day tour including sunrise

Sarak was absolutely faultless from emailing him to initially book a guide right through to coming to my hotel the day after just before we left to make sure everything went OK and to give me my $5 booking fee back!

I would highly recomend Sarak if you're travelling to Siem Reap and you need a tour guide who will exceed your expectations

Tour Guide Comment: Thank you so much Mr. Greg Easton. I am really appreciate for your recommendation to proof about quality of our service so the next people who found me in this website would not be hesitate to choose me for their holiday trip in Cambodia. Sarak was an excellent guide for us in Phnom Penh, Siem Riep and Kep (a new destination for him as well as us!).

He is particularly knowledgeable in Siem Riep (helping to avoid the crowds and visit some less well-known sites), but was very interesting and informative as we travelled around the country.

We changed our itinerary mid-trip which he took completely in his stride.

Definitely recommended.

This guy is really fun, witty and knowledgeable.

He handled my travel in Siem Reap seamlessly from arrival, hotel check in, tour, until the final day in Siem Reap. On the way back to the airport, he even take me for a last tour passing by the Angkor Wat Complex for the very last time..well I guess this is not my first and last trip to Angkor, but a starting point for me to explore more sights in this amazing ancient city. Mr. Chansarak has done a wonderful job in making my stay a memorable one

Tour Guide Comment: Dear Mr. Shah, Thank you very much for a valuable recommendation a my services. I hope that you did have a great time in Cambodia with me in the last few days. Keep in touch. :-D

Sarak's knowledge is very good, but he tried to charge more for the tour as we had already agreed, he was a lot on the phone, walked very ahead of us most of the time, he overcharged us for the entrances prices, and at the end we paid a lot more for what we saw with him, an Apsara show and dinner were suppose to be included and when asked he said that he didn't remember. We were not very satisfied with his service.

Tour Guide Comment: Maria, you paid to me the price what we had agreed. I never overcharge or charged extra from you. Meal is not included. You got confuse, that is why u saw me in negative. To please my clients I bought new camera $600 for taking their pictures for souvenir after the trip and the pictures are free of charge. So no point that I need to cheat u.
